While
Colleen Blazier was in Germany for her Grant of Friendship, she learned
about some Soroptimist practices that are done differently over there.
One of those things she learned is that whenever a new club is chartered
or new member is inducted, part of the ceremony is to light four candles:
one for the new club/member, one for the Region, one for Federation
and one for Soroptimist International. Our club decided to incorporate
this protocol into our induction ceremony. After our newest members,
Brenda Dunlap, Casey Murphy and Nanc Smith received their Soroptimist
pins on December 11th, each of them lit a candle. Danke to our sister
Soroptimists in Germany for introducing us to this wonderful addition. |
